What Services do you provide?

OSS offers several options for swim lessons to meet the diverse needs of our swimmers. The first option is Host Pool swim lessons, where students come to one of OSS's many pool locations throughout South Jersey for their lessons. The second option is At-Home Private lessons, where an OSS instructor travels to the student's private residence to provide one-on-one instruction. The third option is Otter Pup Float sessions, which are held exclusively at the OSS location in Marmora in Spring and Summer. We also have a swim team where swimmers can work on advancing endurance and technique.

What is an Otter Pup Float Session?

Otter Pup Float Sessions are specialized swim lessons designed for infants, toddlers, and young children. The goal is to teach these little swimmers how to float and swim safely in the water. Floating is a vital life-saving skill that can be learned and retained even by the youngest of infants as they grow and develop their strength in the aquatic environment. These lessons typically start as early as 4 months old.

The purpose of the Otter Pup Float Sessions is to help young swimmers gain strength, coordination, and confidence in the water, while also building a strong foundation for water safety. The lessons follow an intensive 2-week schedule, with 5 sessions per week. This immersive approach allows the swimmer to bond closely with their instructor and become comfortable working together in the water. Each individual session lasts approximately 15 minutes.

After the initial 2-week period, the swimmer's progress is carefully evaluated. Based on this assessment, the instructor will then recommend the optimal frequency for the child to continue their Otter Pup Float Sessions going forward. This personalized approach ensures that each young swimmer receives the tailored support they need to develop critical aquatic skills at their own pace.

Does OSS offer lifeguarding at private events?

Yes, OSS provides professional lifeguarding services for private events. Our experienced, Red Cross certified lifeguards are available to ensure the safety and enjoyment of your guests during pool parties, corporate events, or any other private function. To book a lifeguard for your upcoming event, please fill out our contact form with detailed information about the date, location, number of attendees, and any other relevant details. Our team will be happy to discuss your needs and provide a quote. With OSS lifeguarding services, you can have peace of mind knowing your guests are in capable hands.

What is a host pool?

Otter Swimming School (OSS) partners with host families and businesses to provide swim lessons at private pools throughout the community. For each host location, OSS deploys a team of up to four instructors and one manager to lead the lessons.

Prior to the start of the swim season, OSS collaborates with the host family or business to determine the best day and time for the weekly lessons. This designated time slot is then reserved exclusively for the for the duration of the season.

As compensation for opening their pool, the host family or business receives up to two complimentary swim lessons for any residents living at the host location.

This arrangement allows OSS to expand its reach and provide accessible swim instruction, while host families and businesses benefit from the program's resources and expertise. The collaborative nature of the host pool model ensures a mutually beneficial partnership that serves the broader community.

What is the cost for swim lessons?

Host pool swim lessons: We offer group swim lessons at our various locations throughout South Jersey. These 30-minute pool sessions are $40 per session.

At-Home Private Swim Lessons: For personalized instruction, our swim instructors can come to your private residence. These 30-minute private lessons are $55 per session. Be sure to check our swim coach biography page to see which areas they serve before registering.

Otter Pup Float Sessions: We currently hold these 15-20 minute sessions at our Marmora location only. The cost for an Otter Pup Float session is $30.
